GPS location

How this works?
Address to GPS tool uses online geocoding. Geocoding is an act of turning descriptive location data such as a postal address or a named place into geographic coordinates. The process is made of a reference dataset and the geocoding algorithm.
The reference dataset contains the geographically coded information that can be used to derive the appropriate geographic code for an input.
Algorithm include the standardization and normalization of the input into a format and syntax compatible with that of the reference dataset. Once the input has been sufficiently formatted to be compatible with the reference dataset, the algorithm select the best candidate to be used to derive the final output.
Latitude and longitude
Latitude is a measurement on a globe of position north or south of the Equator. The number imply an angle at Earth’s centre and measured in a north-south plane pointing to the pole from the Equator. The greatest angle is 90°. Positive value means the position is in the northern hemisphere. Similarly, negative value imply position in the southern hemisphere.
Longitude is a measurement of location east or west of the prime meridian at Greenwich. The number also imply an angle at Earth’s centre between any point on the Equator and the prime meridian. Lines are the farthest apart at the Equator and meet at the poles. Longitude is measured 180° both east and west of the prime meridian.
